Emerald River
Back in the early '90s, the Emerald River was to be a 6,000 room, $800 million resort along the Colorado River, located around the bend from Harrah's Laughlin.  The first phase never got beyond what is seen in this photo (fourteen floors of one hotel tower, and seven of another).  A wobbly financial market left developer John H. Midby & Associates of Las Vegas with  no money to finish the project.  It's reported that building inspectors from Clark County still inspect the structures on a regular basis, and there has even been a rumor that some day, the project may be restarted.  Until then, the Emerald River is testament to lofty dreams that didn't quite make it to reality.  There are several of these testaments on the Las Vegas Strip, as well.
