 Gold Spike

The Gold Spike Hotel & Casino, at 4th and Ogden (actually, it has a Las Vegas Blvd address!), opened in 1976 as the Rendezvous.  For years, the operation had the reputation as an inexpensive hotel with few amenities.  The Gold Spike closed April 14, 2013 but will re-open in May featuring a restaurant and bar, but without the casino or the hotel operations.

The hotel, which has 112 rooms, had gone through several owners.  The casino and hotel went through a complete renovation and remodeling in 2009 and 2010.  The Gold Spike became a boutique hotel.  Also renovated was the adjacent Travel Inn Motel built in 1962; the motel had fallen into ruin.  The 3-story motel is now called Oasis at Gold Spike and features 50 bungalow suites.

The casino contained a bar and a restaurant.

The Gold Spike was a favorite place to stay for many Downtown visitors.
