Skyvue Las Vegas Super Wheel

The Skyvue Las Vegas Super Wheel promises to be the latest high-profile structure on the Las Vegas Strip shortly.  The 500-foot in diameter observation wheel will be the third largest in the world.  In this view, the 200-foot tall struts that will hold the wheel are begin built; the building is the attractions headquarters.  (Update Oct 2013:  Construction on The Skyvue Las Vegas Super Wheel has been halted; the attraction looks virtually the same one year after this photo was taken in October, 2012).

The Skyvue is located across the Strip from Mandalay Bay.  The project is estimated to cost $300 million.  Thirty-two gondolas will be able to carry 24 passengers each.  In the background of this photo are the Tropicana and the MGM Grand.

A billboard in front of the construction site showing how the Skyvue will appear along the Strip.  A 550-foot in diamater observation ferris wheel, the High Roller, is also planned by Caesars Entertainment to be built behind the Flamingo.
