The Plaza

Opened July 2, 1971, the original name for the Plaza Hotel was Union Plaza in commemoration of the Union Pacific train station that used to be on the site.  The hotel has 1,037 rooms.  67,000 lightbulbs illuminate the exterior of the building. Tthe hotel closed for renovation in November, 2010, re-opening in the late Summer of 2011. In this photo, the Plaza during renovation--March 28, 2011.

The Plaza's name is burning brightly in Downtown and over the Fremont Street Experience!

In the casino, everything is crisp, clean and new.  The rooms have been renovated too--filled with furnishings from the Fountainbleau!  On an upcoming trip, NeonParadise.Com will stay at the Plaza and get photos of one of the rooms.
